Company History

History highlights of Concepts in Millwork, Inc., by Robert E. Silcott, Founder

Born 1943. Millwork career started December 1962. I received my Mill Wrights Journeymen’s card 1965, I am currently President of Concepts in Millwork and involved in the day-to-day operations. “Just working half days from 7AM to 7PM”.

In April 1980 I founded Concepts in Plastic Laminates, Inc. I changed the company name in May 1989 to Concepts in Millwork, Inc. to better reflect our day-to-day operations.

The past 40-years in this business I have steered my companies by these truths:

  • Always tell the truth and do your best to just state the facts.
  • Treat your Customers, Vendors, Subcontractors, Lenders, Employees and Coworkers, as you would like to be treated.
  • No matter the circumstances that lead you to your order, you must be clear that you have agreed to provide quality products on time.
  • Create lasting relationships, at all levels.
  • Never burn bridges.
  • Never assume that you are doing something the best way it can be done.
  • There is always a way to get it done no matter the situation.
  • Be willing to face any situation head on.
  • As a leader your responsibility is to lead. Never think that you can, or did it, by yourself.
  • Safety has always been a priority even before OSHA was in existence.
  • If you care a little you get good results, if you care a lot you get incredible results.

I am clear you can purchase buildings and equipment but without clients and personnel they are worthless. I have been blessed with good clients and employees. I am convinced that long-term relationships with both clients and personnel are essential.

Our success would not have been possible without our partners in business and the trust they placed in us.

You can trust Concepts with the Millwork on your next project.

We, the employees, are looking forward to working for you.

Best Regards,
Robert E. Silcott
